Coming to you from The Becoming Kitchen…
Spice it up
with

{my favorite herb store}
Maybe it’s the Texas blood in my veins, but I love spices! Though caliente isn’t the description I’m looking for.
Flavor is more like it.
The great thing about spices is that, as a whole, they are healthful when used as directed.
Take onions for example.
Ever wonder why the children of Israel fussed about leaving their onions in Egypt (see Numbers 11)? Just a hunch, but could it be that they enjoyed cooking with onions and using them for health purposes?
Diced onions can to added to almost any dish. Saute them in a little oil to make them tender before adding them to your recipe with a short cook time.
Whenever you use onion, go ahead throw in some diced or powdered garlic! Loaded with flavor and nutrition, garlic enhances dishes ranging from mashed potatoes to enchiladas to steamed green beans. Start out with less – it’s easier to add more than to rinse off!
According to Herbal Antibiotics, written by Stephen Harrod Buhner, garlic kills 100% of bacteria it comes into contact with!
Cumin gives the aromatic, warm bite to classic Mexican foods. Try adding a dash to potato soup or other dishes.
Not only is cumin anti-inflammatory, it also contains other nutrients such as iron and protein {see Wikipedia}.
So while you’re cooking in the kitchen today, throw in some extra spices just because.
